Hi, it's Margo. Whether you've got a yellowing pothos you can't figure out, a correction on a zone map, or an idea for a post we should write, I read every message that comes through here myself. This page tells you the fastest way to reach us, what kinds of notes I love getting, and a few tips that'll help me get back to you quickly instead of digging through my inbox at midnight.

The Fastest Way to Reach Us

Email is genuinely the best route: [email protected]. I don't run a live chat or a phone line — gardens and toddlers (well, a 12-year-old now) don't leave room for that — but I do check this inbox regularly and try to reply within a few business days. If a week goes by and you haven't heard back, feel free to send a gentle nudge. Things occasionally land in spam.

What I Actually Want to Hear From You About

Truly, all of the below are welcome. I'd rather get ten small notes than have someone sit on a good question or a real mistake we made.

  • Plant questions — sick houseplant, confused vegetable seedling, a design dilemma for that awkward side yard. I can't promise a full diagnosis by email (that takes photos and back-and-forth), but I'll point you toward the right guide or give you my honest first take.
  • Corrections — wrong hardiness zone, an outdated product mention, a typo in a step. I take accuracy seriously; see our Editorial Policy for how we handle updates, and I'm always grateful when a reader catches something before I do.
  • Content suggestions — a topic you wish existed, a follow-up to a post, a regional twist we missed. Some of our best ideas (including a few stair-railing planter variations) came from reader emails.
  • Technical issues — broken links, images that won't load, a page acting strange on mobile. Screenshots help enormously.
  • Collaborations and partnerships — brands, fellow garden writers, and businesses looking to work with The Tended Garden should start at our Collaboration page, which lays out what we're open to and how to pitch it well.
  • Press and media — background on Margo, the site, or our editorial approach can also be found on the About Us page, and I'm happy to answer follow-up questions directly by email.

Tips for a Quicker, Better Reply

A little detail goes a long way. When you write in, try to include:

  • The exact page or post title you're referring to (a link is even better).
  • What you're growing, where (city or zone helps a ton), and indoors vs. outdoors.
  • A photo or two if it's a plant problem — leaf close-ups, the whole plant, and the pot or soil line.
  • What you've already tried, so I'm not repeating advice you've ruled out.

If your note is a comment on a specific post rather than a private question, you're also welcome to leave it right there on the page — I read those too, and other readers often benefit from seeing the answer.

A Quick Health and Safety Note

I love answering plant questions, but I'm not able to diagnose human or pet health issues by email, and nothing on this site should replace advice from a doctor, vet, or poison control line. If you or a pet has ingested a plant, or you're dealing with a skin reaction from handling one (looking at you, euphorbia sap and some bulb-family plants), please contact a medical professional or your local poison control center right away rather than waiting on a reply from us. Basil the cat has taught our household plenty about pet-safe plant choices, and we try to flag known toxicity concerns in our care guides — but always double-check with your vet for anything urgent.

Before You Write In

A few quick answers that might save you a trip to the inbox: general site policies, disclosures, and legal pages — including our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Terms of Use, Disclaimer, and Affiliate Disclaimer — are all linked in the site footer. If you're wondering how we source and credit photos, that's covered in Image Credits and our Pinterest Disclaimer (you can also find our boards on Pinterest). And if you're planning to comment or share your own garden photos with us, a quick read of our Community Guidelines keeps things friendly for everyone.

Say Hello

Whatever brought you to this page — a struggling fiddle-leaf fig, a landscaping question, or just wanting to say a post helped — I'm glad you reached out. Send it all to [email protected], and I'll get back to you as soon as I can, coffee in hand, probably with dirt still under my nails.
